The Singapore mission in India shared images of a car in the national capital with fake diplomatic number plates from his country. In the picture shared on Friday, the silver-coloured car appeared to be parked at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport.
The mission warned of the fraudulent vehicle with the plate “63 CD” and urged caution, stating that the matter had been reported to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Delhi police.
Alert ‼️⚠️‼️The car below bearing 63 CD plate is FAKE. This is NOT our Embassy car. We have alerted MEA & the Police. With so many threats around, be extra careful when you see this car parked unattended. Especially at the IGI. – HC Wong@DelhiPolice @MEAIndia @DelhiAirport pic.twitter.com/qphXYzhoVF— Singapore in India (@SGinIndia) November 24, 2023
“Alert. The car below bearing 63 CD plate is FAKE. This is NOT our Embassy car. We have alerted MEA & the Police,” the Singapore mission wrote on X, quoting High Commissioner Simon Wong. “With so many threats around, be extra careful when you see this car parked unattended. Especially at the IGI,” he added.
Diplomatic vehicles in India typically have blue plates with white lettering, bearing “CD” followed by a two-digit code, news agency ANI reported. Only foreign diplomatic missions can own vehicles with CD plates, indicating “Corps Diplomatique.”
HC Wong is quite active on social media. Last month, he pointed out a spelling error in the signage of the Singapore High Commission, which was corrected by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC). He later thanked NDMC for the quick fix.
