Ravi Kishan, a popular face in both the Hindi and Bhojpuri film industries, embarked on his acting journey in 1992 with the film Pitambar. Over the decades, he has been part of various successful Bollywood movies alongside some of the industry’s biggest stars. His most recent project, Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue, hit the screens on October 6, and in this film, Ravi Kishan assumes a significant role alongside Akshay Kumar. During a recent interview, Ravi fondly spoke about his deep admiration for Akshay Kumar’s relentless determination and even went on to praise Shah Rukh Khan’s unwavering dedication to his craft.
In conversation with RJ host Siddharth Kannan, Ravi Kishan recalled an anecdote while he was shooting for the 1996 film Army, which also featured Shah Rukh Khan. Ravi Kishan recalled that Shah Rukh Khan arrived on the set despite battling a high fever. “We were shooting the climax song of Army at Mehboob Studio. Shah Rukh had a 103 fever and even with that fever, he came and sat on the set. He didn’t even have a big role in the film. It was a cameo role. Still, he watched the shoot with full commitment. His eyes had that attitude of do or die,” he said.
Ravi Kishan has similar thoughts about his other contemporary, Akshay Kumar. The two have worked in films like Zakhmi Dil, Keemat, Aan, and Phir Hera Pheri and shared a great bond. Ravi said both Akshay Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan “do not want to die as unknowns.” Ravi Kishan believes that these two actors think, “I have come to the earth for some reason and have been blessed with so much talent. So, when I die, the country will know, the world will know.”
Meanwhile, in another interview with the Free Press Journal, Ravi Kishan said his latest film, Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue, will serve as inspiration for many youngsters to help those in need. He stated, “Our film conveys the message that this unsung hero, Jaswant Singh Gill, who was almost 300 ft. underground, could have left the people to die but he didn’t bother about the flooded area deep down and instead tried to rescue the victims.”
The film tells the story of Jaswant Singh Gill, an unsung hero who created a capsule and saved 65 trapped miners suffering 300 feet deep at the Raniganj Coalfields in 1989. It is directed by Tinu Suresh Desai and also stars Parineeti Chopra.
