The 20th Century Studios is back with the fourth instalment of the reboot series on the commercially hit franchise Planet Of The Apes. The trailer for the newest chapter, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, which is slated to release on May 24, 2024, was dropped recently. This comes years after the third part, War for the Planet of the Apes, was released in 2017. The trailer hints that the story picks up after the events in the last film. The film, directed by Wes Ball, gives a glimpse into a world where the boundary between humanity and apehood diminishes and promises to transport fans back to a dismal world where apes have risen to control.

The 2017 film War for the Planet of the Apes, directed by Matt Reeves, ended with the death of Caesar, the visionary ape leader. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes takes place many years later and follows the journey of the former ape leader’s son, Cornelius. It aims to depict a world in which ape civilizations thrive while humans are striving to survive on a planet they once dominated.

The trailer begins with Cornelius mentioning strange visions he gets while he sleeps. The clip then goes on to depict a world in which a malicious ape monarch attempts to conquer his fellow apes in his never-ending pursuit of human technology. Meanwhile, another kind of ape, motivated by a desire to free the kingdom, establishes a friendship with a human. Their adventure promises to be an engrossing story of survival, cooperation, and the never-ending battle for power. The trailer depicts scenes as many humans are being hunted down by apes on horseback and how they hide to survive the threat.

The production house stated in the logline, “As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike."

The initial six instalments of the film, based on Pierre Boulle’s 1963 novel Planet of the Apes, were released between 1968 and 2001. A reboot series started in 2011, with Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes in 2014, and War for the Planet of the Apes in 2017. The latest film will be the fourth in the series and casts Owen Teague, Freya Allan, Kevin Durand, Peter Macon, and William H. Macy.
