It was a star-studded affair last night at the screening of Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies. Some of the most celebrated names in the industry came in support of the film and the young aspiring actors in bloc. The film stars Agatsya Nanda, Khushi Kapoor, Suhana Khan, Aditi Saigal, Mhir Ahuja, Vedang Raina, and Yuvraj Menda. At the screening, Janhvi Kapoor came in style to show her support and stand by her sister Khushi, who is just taking her first step in the industry.
Sharing an inside picture from the screening, Janhvi wrote, “The sunshine of my life and now the sunshine of cinema. You are magical.” In the picture, Khushi was seen seated on Janhvi’s lap, and the latter hugged her tight. At the screening, Janhvi looked stunning in a shimmering, stone-studded gown. The actress enhanced her appearance with well-defined eyes and a crimson lip colour, leaving her long, wavy locks open. She was breathtakingly beautiful and struck the ideal combination of elegance and charm.
Khushi Kapoor, on the other hand, stole the show. Khushi stunned the crowd as she re-wore her late mother Sridevi’s Kaufman Franco dress at the screening of her first film. Khushi looked stunning in her mother’s shimmering strapless gown. She accessorised with a diamond necklace and earrings that also belonged to Sridevi. She completed her outfit with tight hair in a neat bun. Khushi Kapoor discusses the role of Betty Cooper in her upcoming film.
The trailer for the film was released last month and promises to be a tale of friendship as the gang strives to save their town. Sharing about how the idea of making an adaptation of The Archies came into being, Zoya Akhtar said that she was initially unsure if the essence of the comic could be retained, but “Since it’s a global IP, I need to be able to take something from here and do it in a language that retains its original essence and speaks to kids today. We were excited about that. We have done whatever we wanted to, and now we are getting scared, as always.”
The Archies will be available on Netflix on December 7. The plot is based on the lives of popular fictitious characters from American comic books of the same name but is set in India. It is a heartwarming coming-of-age story set in the vintage aesthetic backdrop of the 1960s and is a collaboration between Netflix India, Tiger Baby, Archie Comics, and Graphic India.
