Golden Globes 2024: Meghan Markle Skips Suits Reunion For This Reason
Although Meghan Markle received an invitation to reunite with her Suits cast members, she could not mark her presence at the Golden Globes due to “a preexisting commitment”.

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, was invited to attend the reunion of her much-acclaimed drama series Suits at the 2024 Golden Globes Awards. However, according to reports, she had to give the ceremony a miss owing to her “pre-existing" work commitment. Her Suits co-stars, Gina Torres, Patrick J Adams, Gabriel Macht, and Sarah Rafferty attended the occasion. They presented the cast of Succession, a comedy-drama series, with the Best Television Series award. The Golden Globes awards night was organised on January 7 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles. The glittery night witnessed the arrival of the creme de la creme of Hollywood.

As per a report by Entertainment Tonight, although Meghan Markle received an invitation to reunite with her Suits cast members, she could not mark her presence at the Golden Globes due to “a preexisting commitment". Meghan played the role of Rachel Zane in the hit legal drama series, which found a resurgence on Netflix between the summer months of June 26 to July 2, 2023. Suits, which started streaming on Netflix on June 17, saw 3.14 billion minutes of viewing during that week, breaking the record for an acquired series, reports ET.

Speaking about Suits’ recent popularity amongst the masses, the show’s cast member Gabriel Macht said that it was probably because the people resonated with the series’ plot and characters. “I think people like to watch people in an office or a family and they’re working it out. The show was a big hit when we shot it, and it was a hit around the world, and then [on] Netflix… it’s a new generation that comes in and sees it and goes, ‘Wow, this is incredible.’ I think people are just catching up," he said.

Meghan Markle was associated with Suits for its first seven seasons in the nine-season long haul. The series’ final season aired in 2018. The Duchess took an exit from the show soon after she announced her engagement to the Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry. The couple got married on May 19, 2018. They welcomed their son Archie on May 6, 2019, and daughter Lilibet on June 4, 2021.
