Atlee Calls Jawan His 'Love Letter' To Shah Rukh Khan, Says He's Extremely Supportive Of Directors
Atlee has opened up on working with Shah Rukh Khan in Jawan.

In 2023, Shah Rukh Khan made a big return to the silver screen with two consecutive blockbuster films, Pathaan and Jawan. In the latter, he teamed up with acclaimed Tamil filmmaker Atlee, and their collaboration continues to win big at the box office. In a recent interview with Filmfare, Atlee shared insights about working with King Khan in his first Bollywood project. Atlee praised Shah Rukh Khan, saying he takes producing movies seriously.

In the interview, director Atlee shared his experience of working with Shah Rukh Khan, whom he really admires. The filmmaker described King Khan as a down-to-earth person who understands filmmaking exceptionally well. According to the director, Shah Rukh Khan not only knows the art of making movies but is also a dedicated producer.

During the course of the interview, Atlee praised Shah Rukh Khan for being incredibly supportive of the entire crew, both as a producer and actor. He spoke of how the superstar tirelessly backs his team members to enhance the film’s quality. The young filmmaker said that working with SRK on Jawan has improved his understanding of film concepts and storytelling.

Atlee also revealed that Shah Rukh Khan approached him to make a film that appeals to audiences all over India. “I have never thought that I’m going to make a Bollywood film. Shah Rukh sir said, ‘Let’s make a film for everyone.’ It’s an Indian film. So it’s not only for Bollywood, South, West, or East; it’s for everyone,” he recalled. He admitted that Jawan is his ‘love letter’ to SRK, a project born out of love for the superstar.

Jawan achieved a remarkable milestone by surpassing the Rs 1000 crore mark in worldwide earnings. In India, this action-packed drama has crossed an impressive Rs 600 crore mark at the box office.
