New Delhi: Actresses like Vidya Balan, Parineeti Chopra, Huma Qureshi and Sonakshi Sinha might often have been subject to jibes because of their body types, but they all have won acting plaudits with their sheer talent. And adding to the list of talented actresses is Yash Raj Film's new find Bhumi Pednekar, who has proved her acting credentials with her debut movie 'Dum Laga Ke Haisha'.
The newbie actress is adorable and so is her role in the movie. She is certainly not just another plus-size actress in the industry and we thank YRF to have presented such a glorious face to us. Pednekar is a sheer bliss on screen and she has undoubtedly pulled off her role the best possible way. Pednekar as Sandhya is a small town girl from Haridwar, who is extremely talented but horizontally challenged. She dances at her wedding and is ready to defend herself when she is right.
Pednekar's character in 'Dum Laga Ke Haisha' is not just about the snag a plus-size girl goes through, but it also highlights how arranged marriages merely become a liability if there isn't a 'connection of the heart'. Sandhya is not the '90s Bollywood girl who would plead to her husband and cry after being rejected by him. In fact, she doesn't hesitate to give back as good as she gets.
There are a few sequences in the film where Pednekar as Sandya really touched our heart. For example, that moment when she slaps her husband Prem Prakash Tiwari (Ayushmann Khurrana) for calling her fat and how nonchalantly she dances at her wedding despite knowing that he in-laws are watching.
We can't imagine 'Dum Laga Ke Haisha' without Bhumi Pedenkar.
This sweet tale of love is not to be missed and we would recommend everyone to watch it because such Bollywood movies rarely come by.
