Watch: Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes Teases The 'Narcissistic' New Villain

Continuing the Planet of the Apes franchise, the latest instalment, the Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is all set to take over cinemas in May this year. Serving as a direct follow-up to the last film, the fourth part will have a fresh take, almost 300 years after the events of the franchise’s initial trilogy showing Earth fully in the control of the ape species. The trailer of the film has already created quite a stir showing a world where the apes are dominating humans. Now, the 20th Century Studios have shared a new sneak peek of the antagonist or the unstoppable villain.

In the clip shared on Instagram, while a new tyrannical ape leader will be seen building his empire, a young ape will go through a harrowing journey and question everything that he has known from the past and choices that will define the future for humans and apes alike.

As the clip plays, the words of the villainous leader echo as he says, “Now is our time and it is my kingdom. And I will conquer. Bend for your king,” thus unleashing havoc on everyone in his path. “Villain. Now it is our time, and it is my kingdom,” the caption reads.

Actor Kevin Durand plays the lead role of the mysterious antagonist i.e., Proximus Caesar. However, it is yet to be known whether he is a descendant of the original Caesar. Speaking to Total Film, the actor particularly described him as a “baddie and a narcissist.”

“But it’s coming down to, you know, homosapiens or apes and obviously he’s on the side of the apes, so he’s willing to do whatever needs to happen, by any means necessary, to ensure a future for apekind,” he further explained.
