Raima Sen believes that it was probably the motion poster of Maa Kaali that might have ruffled someone’s feathers.

Raima Sen is one of the most prolific actresses in the film industry. She has been a part of many notable works like Chokher Baali, Parineeta and Noukadubi. Recently, the actress has joined the club of celebrities who have been on the receiving end of trolling. She is currently gearing up for the movie Maa Kaali. She is not just being trolled, but is also getting threat calls. Raima Sen’s upcoming movie, Maa Kaali is based on the Direct Action Day of August 16, 1946. In a recent interview with Zoom, she opened up about the online trolls and threat calls she has been receiving. She believes that it was probably the motion poster of Maa Kaali that might have ruffled someone’s feathers. She said that the trolling first began on social media with internet users pointing out that they thought Raima Sen was “different”. She added, “I suppose they think I am doing a propaganda film.”

Speaking of when the trolling and targeting began, she said that ever since she starred in Vivek Agnihotri’s The Vaccine War. She stated that the trollers calmed down after they saw her in the movie and realised there was nothing much to target her about. She clarified that people say “all kinds of things” including her joining politics. But she said that she was just an actor who jumped into the role that she was offered.

In the same interview, Raima Sen shared that she has never been “politically inclined: and has been “non-controversial”, hence such assumptions about her were not nice. Now, the trolling does not bother her. She has learned to ignore it.

Maa Kaali is written and directed by Vijay Yelakanti. As per Raima Sen, the movie is about “the forgotten history of Bengal, the Direct Action Day, on August 16, 1946.” She mentioned that she will be representing all the Bengalis in the movie, refugees and the partition and formation of Bangladesh. “I am representing their struggle and what they are facing, still for the last 70 years.” The film is about Bengal and as a Bengali herself, she is proud to be a part of the movie. Maa Kaali stars Raima Sen and Abhishek Singh in lead roles. It is backed by TG Prasad, with music by Anurag Halder.
