In a devastating incident, a teenage fan of Taylor Swift tragically lost their life in a fatal car accident while traveling to attend the singer’s concert in Australia. Reports suggest that Mieka Pokarier, 16, was enjoying Taylor Swift’s music with her mother and younger sister during their 17-hour journey to the superstar’s Eras Tour performance. Sadly, their trip ended in a horrific crash, resulting in the teenager’s death and leaving her sibling critically injured.
According to The Weekend Australian, a Queensland family’s dream trip to see Taylor Swift in concert turned tragic when one daughter was killed and another placed in an induced coma following a horrific car crash.
On Thursday, emergency team was called to the scene of a two-vehicle collision on Dunedoo Rd in Ballimore. Sixteen-year-old Mieka Pokarier tragically passed away at the scene, while her ten-year-old sister Freya Pokarier was airlifted to a hospital in Sydney for treatment. The siblings were traveling with their mother at the time of the accident, with the mother driving and Mieka in the passenger seat. The mother received minor injuries and was taken to the hospital after receiving treatment from paramedics.
The girls’ godmother wrote on GoFundMe page, “We are heartbroken to have lost one of her children (aged 16) whilst the 10 year old has been lifted to Westmead Hospital in critical condition, fighting for her life with brain injuries, a damaged pelvis and broken leg.” She wrote on the page. “This was supposed to be a road trip of a lifetime with them going to concerts in both Melbourne and Sydney.”
This comes only a few months after the tragic death of a 23-year-old fan at an Eras Tour concert in Rio de Janeiro due to extreme heat. Ana Clara Benevides, a Brazilian fan, collapsed at the event after waiting for hours in sweltering temperatures to enter the venue. She later succumbed to her condition in the hospital.
