As Tabu gears up for the release of her upcoming film with Ajay Devgn, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, she was recently asked to share her two cents on the matter of the gender pay gap in Bollywood. The actress wondered why female actors are asked this question, instead of posing it to the men in power.
“Why don’t you ask the person who is paying them more?” Tabu asked on the We Are Yuvaa podcast. She further added, “Why don’t you ask the male actor why you are getting paid more? This might change the perspective, and the whole thing will change if there is an outside lens. Physicality is always in the context of the lens that is being carried.”
Meanwhile, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, starring Tabu and Ajay Devgn, is set to be released on August 2. The musical romance drama was previously scheduled to hit the screens on July 5 alongside the action thriller Kill, but its release was postponed on the “request of exhibitors and distribution fraternity”.
Directed by Neeraj Pandey, Auron Mein Kahan Dun Tha also stars Saiee Manjrekar, Shantanu Maheshwari, Jimmy Shergill and Sayaji Shinde.
“The much-awaited love saga, ‘Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha’, will have its theatrical release on 2nd August 2024. The anticipation for the film has been increasing each day as fans eagerly await the chance to witness the chemistry between Ajay Devgn and Tabu in this heartfelt story by Neeraj Pandey,” the makers said in a press release issued recently.
Presented by NH Studioz, the upcoming Hindi movie is a Friday Filmworks production and is produced by Narendra Hirawat, Kumar Mangat Pathak (Panorama Studios), Sangeeta Ahir and Shital Bhatia.
Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha marks another collaboration between Tabu and Devgn, who have worked together in several films including Vijaypath, Haqeeqat, and the Drishyam franchise.
Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha marks Ajay and Tabu’s tenth film together and fans are eager to watch them together as lovers. Director Neeraj Panday reveals that he wasn’t aware of their off-screen camaraderie but he always knew that they were the perfect fit for the film. “Two years back, when we were figuring out our next theatrical release, the germ of this film came to me. It was there in some form in my head before that but I didn’t actually sit down and write about it till two years ago. And Ajay and Tabu were my first choices. Having said that, I don’t know if it’s their friendship that translated onscreen because I know nothing about its background,” the filmmaker said.
