2018 has been an exceptional year for Bollywood films at the box office. As many as 13 films made it to the 100 crore club, reports film trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

The list includes 13 films from varied genres and storylines. While controversial movies like Padmaavat and Sanju were expected to be there, unconventional films like Badhaai Ho starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rajkummar Rao's Stree in the list came as a surprise.

Salman Khan starrer Race 3 and Akshay Kumar's Gold also got into 100 crore club.

In another tweet, Taran informed that Sanjay Dutt's biopic, Sanju starring Ranbir Kapoor is the highest grossing film of the year. He wrote, "#Sanju is the HIGHEST GROSSING *Hindi film* of 2018, followed by #Padmaavat... Although ₹ 100 cr Club is no longer the yardstick to gauge the success of a film, as many as 13 *Hindi films* breached ₹ 100 cr mark in 2018, which is a new record... India biz." (sic)

Giving away further details, he informed that with 13 films, Salman Khan holds the record of maximum films raking Rs. 100 crore + at the box office. He is followed by Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgan with 10 and 8 films in the 100 crore club while both Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif have 7 films each.

On the other hand, Sanju and Padmaavat were two entries from 2018 in Rs. 300 crore club. PK (2014), Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015), Sultan (2016), Dangal (2016), and Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) are the other films.

Meanwhile, SS. Rajamouli's Baahubali 2 (2017) starring Prabhas, Rana Daggubati and Anushka Shetty is the only film to earn Rs. 500 crore at the box office and none of the films in 2018 could reach that mark.
