Actors Shilpa Shetty and Govinda have landed in legal trouble for their 1996 film Chote Sarkar

Acting upon a defamation case filed in a court in Pakur Jharkhand, both the actors have been directed to depose on October 18.

Shilpa and Govinda have been accused of defaming Bihar and Uttar Pradesh with the lyrics of the song Ek Chumma Tu Mujhko Udhaar De De. It's not just the actress but complaint aginst the directors and singers including Vimal Kumar, Udit Narayan Alka Yagnik, Anand Malik and Rani Malik has also been registered.

The case is 20 years old when Jharkhand was still part of Bihar. A local lawyer had filed a case against the actors over the defamatory lyrics of the song.

The court had to hear the case on June 30 but no one showed up despite several warnings. Now the court has directed Mumbai police to bring in the actors by October 18.

The arrest warrant for the actors was issued on July 20 but no action has been taken. The statements from the film's makers and the actors are yet to come.
