Sanjay Gupta Reveals Sajid Khan Would Say Fardeen Khan Is ‘Fourth Khan’ After Bollywood’s Big Three
Shootout At Wadala director Sanjay Gupta recalled how Sajid Khan would often say that Fardeen Khan was the ‘fourth Khan’ in Bollywood.

After a series of box office flops, Fardeen Khan decided to leave showbiz. However, he gave acting another chance and made his comeback with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar after 14 years. After which, Fardeen was also seen in Akshay Kumar starrer Khel Khel Mein and is now gearing up for the release of Kookie Gulati-directed crime thriller Visfot.

Recently, Fardeen and Visfot producer Sanjay Gupta sat for an interview with Pinkvilla, and spoke at length about their upcoming film. While conversing, the filmmaker was questioned about his first impression of Fardeen. He shared that his impression of the latter is more from his dad, the acclaimed actor, director and producer Feroz Khan, than from him.

Further, Gupta said, “I worship Khan saab. All my films are derivative of his work and everything. So, it was a very, very natural connection.” The filmmaker also shared an anecdote about Sajid Khan, who often used to say that Fardeen is the fourth Khan after Aamir, Salman and Shah Rukh. “Sajid Khan used to often say he (Fardeen) is the fourth Khan who only threatens to be a superstar. Maybe he is just taking his own time,” Gupta shared laughingly.

When asked how the duo’s bond has evolved over the years, the actor said that they are “less ignorant, little wiser, little reflective” and highlighted their shared passion for storytelling. “We’ve got to know each other better over the years. He’s a dad, I’m a dad. That’s a huge thing. So, he’s settled. I’m settled. None of the old madness,” Fardeen added.

Meanwhile, in the same interview, Gupta heaped praises on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directorial prowess and Alia Bhatt’s acting in Gangubai Kathiawadi. He shared that the film took him to Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘70’s era. “When I saw Gangubai, I was like, wow. I felt like I was watching an Amitabh Bachchan film from the 70s. With her dialogues and the way the scenes were constructed,” the filmmaker said.

Fardeen, who made his comeback with Bhansali’s period drama Heeramandi after 14 years, had previously talked about the “daunting” decision to start a second inning in the industry. In an interview with PTI, the actor shared, “It was very daunting making that decision to come back. So much had changed in itself that I had inherent fears and apprehensions. But what kept me going and gave me encouragement is the warmth and love that I received. People who like my work, my audiences, my fans, they’ve been consistent with that over the years.”
