Actor Naveen Chandra has won the Best Actor award at the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival 2024. He won the award for his performance in the film, Month Of Madhu. It was written and directed by Srikanth Nagothi. It starred Naveen Chandra and Swathi Reddy in the lead roles. The win at the prestigious film festival of India underscores the dedication and impact of the actor in the cinema industry. He debuted in the film industry with the movie Sambhavami Yuge Yuge in 2006. It was directed by Ravi Varma. It was the remake of the Brazilian film, City Of God.
In his award acceptance speech, Naveen Chandra expressed his gratitude to the jury members for honouring him with the award. He appreciated the talent of the other actors and said that he watched all the films which were screened in the morning at the Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival 2024. “I thank god for choosing this art to be here and experience all this. It’s like a dream for me," said Naveen Chandra while giving his speech.
He thanked his team, family and jury members for this achievement. Naveen Chandra called it a great moment and said, “From commercial cinema to Dada Saheb Phalke Award, standing here gives me great joy," said Naveen Chandra.
Month of Madhu revolves around the story of a married couple Naveen and Swathi Reddy. Their married life is on the verge of separation, when an NRI teenager Madhhumitha played by Shreya Navile enters the life of Naveen Chandra. The film further delves into the complicated dynamics of the marital life of the lead pair which is further impacted by the entry of NRI teenager. The critics have appreciated the screenplay, direction and the music of the movie. The soundtrack of the film is composed by Achu Rajamani. The performance of the lead pair was appreciated by the critics and the audience. It is available on Amazon Prime Video. It was released in theatres on October 6, 2023.
Naveen Chandra also played a prominent role in the Tamil film Jigarthanda DoubleX. It was written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj.
