American actress and comedian Mindy Kaling, best known for her work in The Office and The Mindy Project, recently talked about her love for all things makeup. Mindy Kaling, 45, enjoys indulging in luxurious beauty moments, especially those associated with the red carpet. While she appreciates being fully made up, Mindy is also comfortable with her natural, bare face.
In an interview with People, the actress said, “It still never gets old being in glam. The transformation, how it makes me feel about myself, it’s so huge.” Mindy shared that she began experimenting with makeup when she was about 13 or 14. While her makeup choices are more subtle than they were when she was in her 20s or 30s, she still doesn’t mind going all out at events like the annual Met Gala.
“The Met Gala is the one time where I really experiment with eyeshadows. In general, the way that my eyes are set, I think a clean eye usually works best for the way my face is shaped. But as I’ve gotten older, it’s a little bit more ‘less is more’ in terms of colours. When I was younger, I used to love all the different eyeshadow colours — blues, purples, oranges, yellow. And when I see a show like Euphoria I’m inspired by that. But now I can just admire it without trying it myself,” added The Office alum.
The 45-year-old actress is now much more inclined towards having chill nights with her three kids, Katherine (6), Spencer (4), and Anne (7 months), and skipping the glam altogether. Mindy said, “I have three little kids who are six and under, so for me, I really do relish a makeup-free moment when I can focus a little bit more on skincare than I did even in my 30s.” Taking good care of her skin is all the more reason she invested in the brand Lion Pose. “That’s why I invested in this brand Lion Pose, because it helps with my hyperpigmentation. I really was not that into skincare until I was 40 years old. So now it’s 50% makeup and 50% skin care. That makes coming to Sephoria, where it’s both of those things, really fun.”
In June, Mindy shared the exciting news of welcoming her third child, a baby girl named Anne. On her 45th birthday, she revealed to her fans that she had given birth to her daughter in late February. “She’s the best birthday present I could’ve ever imagined. When things are hard, whenever I veer towards cynicism, my three kids are such a great reminder of the pure joy in my life. I’m so lucky I live in a place where I could do this by myself, on my own timeline. Thanks for all the birthday wishes!” the actress wrote in the note accompanying the post.
The comedian has kept the faces of her children away from the media and has also not disclosed the identity of her children’s father.
