Popular Marathi singer Vinod Kumavat, known for hit song Hai Jhumka Vali Por, has been accused of rape. The Nashik Police has registered a case based on a complaint filed by a woman.
According to the complaint, filed at the Nashik Road Police Station, Kumavat reportedly lured the complainant to have a physical relationship on the pretext of marriage. Subsequently, he refused to marry her, according to the complainant. She also alleged that Kumavat physically assaulted her. The complainant said that she first met the singer during the shooting of the video album for the popular song Hai Jhumka Vali Por.
The woman alleged that the abuse continued for five months from August 2023 to January 2024. During this period Kumavat allegedly took the woman to various locations and sexually assaulted her, according to the complainant.
The complainant, who was hired as a dancer for the song Jhumka Wali Por, revealed that she was not paid for her work as well. The police started investigation into the matter after the complaint was filed at the Nashik Road Police Station on February 2. However, as of now, no arrest has been made and the probe is underway, according to reports.
