He shared an incident from the set of Joram where a co-actor assumed he drank vodka before every take. Manoj clarified that the bottle people saw him with actually contained homeopathic medicine, not alcohol.
Manoj Bajpayee revealed that many people have preconceived ideas about him, with some even mistakenly believing that he is a “sharabi” (alcoholic). During a recent appearance on a podcast on the YouTube channel Bharti TV, Manoj shared an anecdote about a co-actor who once approached him and commented that it was rumored Manoj would have a shot of vodka before every take.
Recounting an incident from the sets of Joram, Manoj Bajpayee shared, “When I was shooting for Joram, one girl came up to me, this was her first film. She said ‘sir, I am really enjoying working with you’.” After thanking her, Manoj recalled what the girl said as the conversation moved along, “Sir, it is very well known about you that you take a shot before every take. I said ‘what shot?’ She said ‘people think it is a vodka shot’.” Reacting to this, Manoj clarified, “What shot? I don’t even drink hard liquor.”
When reminded by the woman about his habit of drinking from a small bottle every few hours, Manoj clarified that it contained his homeopathic medicine. He expressed disbelief, saying, “I said ‘are you crazy? This is homeopathic medicine.” Frustrated by the assumption that he consumes alcohol on set, he humorously remarked, “People think I go on the set after having a vodka shot, yeh toh sharabi hai kebabi hai.” Manoj explained that because of his homeopathic routine, where he takes a specific number of drops straight from the bottle, people mistakenly judged him without asking. He affirmed, “I don’t drink hard liquor.”
Manoj has been actively promoting his latest film, Silence 2, alongside Prachi Desai. The actor is known for his versatility and method of acting and enjoys a massive fan following. He has been awarded several accolades including three National Film Awards, the Dada Saheb Phalke Award, and six Filmfare Awards. Also, Manoj Bajpayee is a recipient of the fourth-highest civilian award, Padma Shri, which he received in 2019 for his contributions to art.
In his career spanning almost three years, Manoj has experimented in almost every genre, needless to say that he excelled in each one of them.
