Kareena Kapoor Khan is a true Meryl Streep fan. The Hollywood star marked her return to the Cannes Film Festival this year. Attending the event as the guest of honour, the Hollywood legend received the prestigious Palme d’Or on Tuesday, May 14. As fans celebrated her return to the film festival after more than three decades, Kareena Kapoor also lauded Meryl’s Cannes appearance. Sharing a picture of the actress from the red carpet, she wrote, “O Meryl there is absolutely no one like you.”
This is not the first time that the Bollywood diva has expressed her admiration for Meryl. Mentioning that she loves to watch Meryl Streep in Big Little Lies, Kareena shared in an old interview that the Hollywood star inspired her.

Dressed in a stunning white outfit, Meryl Streep walked the Cannes red carpet on May 14. More than three decades after receiving the Best Actress Award in 1989, Meryl Streep was invited as the guest of honour as she received the Palme d’Or from French actor Juliette Binoche. After receiving a thunderous standing ovation from the audience, the 74-year-old thanked everyone with whom she worked.
“This prize is unique in the world of cinema and I’m very, very honoured to receive it,” she said, further thanking her agent, Kevin Huvane and her hair and makeup stylist, J Roy Helland.
“I thought that my career was over — and that was not an unrealistic expectation for actresses at that time. And the only reason that I’m here tonight and that it continues is because of the very gifted artists with whom I’ve worked, including madame la president (Greta Gerwig),” she added.
Having worked in a variety of films in her career, Meryl Streep has several acclaimed roles to her name and has also won many major awards including three Academy Awards, eight Golden Globes, and two SAGs, among others.
Kareena Kapoor’s Work Front
Last seen in Rajesh A Krishnan’s Crew alongside Tabu and Kriti Sanon, Kareena Kapoor has a couple of exciting projects in the pipeline. While she will soon be seen in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again, the actress also has Hansal Mehta’s The Buckingham Murders in the works. The project is currently in production. Besides Kareena, the film also stars Ash Tandon, Ranveer Brar and Keith Allen.
