Taylor Swift’s latest album The Tortured Poets Department has seemingly reopened the pages of her past relationship with Joe Alwyn. The emotionally raw music details a tumultuous time in her love life at the time when she was riding on her yet another career high. Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn, despite dating for six long years, kept their relationship under wraps. Although the duo made several public appearances together, Alwyn was keen on keeping it private. Guess what? He intentionally kept the romance out of the limelight.
Earlier, a source speaking to People magazine, informed that the couple prefers privacy despite the intense media scrutiny. Although being spotted multiple times together, both Swift and Alwyn never indulged in PDA in a bid to keep the relationship private. According to a source, Joe Alwyn had a different vision and he “intentionally” never opened up about the relationship wanting it to be “his own personal story.”
Taylor Swift’s latest album delves into her emotions, particularly the pain she endured during her past relationship. Reports suggest that Swift had a lot to express about the treatment she received during those six years, and she has finally poured it all out in her music. If the reports are to be believed, the former couple was on the brink of engagement before their final split. The pop sensation, in a few tracks from her latest album, mentioned feeling “trapped and lonely” in a relationship that was on the verge of the end. One of the tracks, So Long London, hints at the hard times she witnessed in her relationship with Alwyn as she sings, “I stopped trying to make him laugh / Stopped trying to drill the safe.” She goes on, “And I’m pissed off you let me give you all that youth for free.”
Swift and Joe Alwyn separated from each other in early 2023. Now, a year after the relationship ended, one of the close friends of Alwy opened up about his time with the singer as he said, “When friends found out he was dating Swift, the relationship took a lot of people by surprise,” adding, “but he wasn’t flaunting it.”
