Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan recently attended the World Governments Summit 2024 in Dubai. In the summit in a fascinating conversation with journalist Richard Quest, the actor spoke about various aspects of his career and the Bollywood film industry. Along with these, he also spoke about his ritual before a film’s release which is currently garnering everyone’s attention.
In the interaction, Shah Rukh Khan said that he takes a 2-3 hour long bath with good oil and scents before any of his films are released. When he was further asked about his enthralling journey in the Hindi film industry and when the intrigued Richard Quest doubted the actor was working for money, Shah Rukh Khan quickly dismissed his scepticism and said, “Bathing oils are very expensive.” Hearing his answer, the audience had a burst of huge laughter.
When the Dunki actor was asked about offers from foreign film industries, he replied that a lot of people don’t believe that he doesn’t get any offers from Hollywood or other Western film industries. The actor said, “I’ve said this honestly, but nobody believes me. Nobody has offered me any crossover work of substance. I may have had conversations with people. I have many wonderful contacts in the West, in the English and American film industries, but I have not had any job offers.” He also said that he has often heard actors who often express their desire to cross over. “I still have to learn to deliver to an audience that likes them, instead of spreading myself too thin. So, I’ve never been offered a film in Hollywood or England,” Shah Rukh further said.
Shah Rukh Khan was recently seen in the comedy-drama film Dunki. The movie was based on based on “donkey flight”, an illegal immigration technique. The movie is directed and edited by Rajkumar Hirani from a script he co-wrote with Abhijat Joshi and Kanika Dhillon. Apart from Shah Rukh Khan, the movie also stars Boman Irani, Vicky Kaushal and Taapsee Pannu in pivotal roles. The film was an enormous hit. It also became the sixth-highest-grossing Hindi film and the ninth-highest-grossing Indian film of 2023.
