In a historic development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday. The sprawling religious structure has been built by the Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS). Bollywood celebrities such as Akshay Kumar, Vivek Oberoi and Shankar Mahadevan among others also attended the grand event. Following the consecration ceremony, Akshay Kumar took to his social media handles and shared a ravishing picture of the Hindu temple. Calling it a ‘historic moment’, the actor expressed gratitude to be able to be part of the grandeur. His post accompanied a caption that read, “Blessed to be a part of the inauguration of the BAPS Swaminarayan temple at Abu Dhabi. What a historic moment!!”

Akshay Kumar chose a white and golden kurta for the grand occasion. The 56-year-old star was surrounded by his security officials as he walked towards the inauguration spot.

Social media users took to the comment box of Akshay Kumar’s post in no time. A user called Akshay, “My favorite star” while another said, “This is the beauty of sanatan dharam.” One person mentioned, “Historical day for Every one…” A comment also read, “Thanks for sharing your memory there .. i hope you like it .. Akshay ji.” Many others showered love for the ‘Khiladi’ of Bollywood.
Grammy-winner Shankar Mahadevan, who was also present at the event, shared his happiness on the ‘historic moment’ and told ANI, “This is an extremely happy moment for India and all Indians all over the world. This is a historic moment in our lives where we are going to witness a Mandir which is so magnificent and spiritual coming on a land like Abu Dhabi. Only our PM Narendra Modi can execute this. I want to thank the entire Swaminarayan family for including me.”
Inaugurating Abu Dhabi’s first Hindu stone temple, PM Modi described it as a symbol of the shared heritage of humanity. The global leader also thanked the UAE for scripting a new golden chapter of human history.
According to PTI, the BAPS temple is constructed on a 27-acre land in Abu Mreikhah, near Al Rahba off the Dubai-Abu Dhabi Sheikh Zayed Highway. The temple has been built at a cost of around Rs 700 crore. The Prime Minister noted that this is not only the time of India’s ‘Amrit Kaal’, but also the time of ‘Amrit Kaal’ of our faith and culture.
