The third season of the British coming-of-age romantic comedy-drama Heartstopper is expected to premiere on Netflix sometime in October. The teen drama based on a webcomic and graphic novel by Alice Oseman features Kit Connor and Joe Locke in lead roles. The first two installments were a hit among viewers, with the plot and performances garnering much praise. Now, with Heartstopper aiming for the third segment, three new cast members have been roped in. In a recent Instagram post, Netflix welcomed Jonathan Bailey, Hayley Atwell, and Eddie Marsan to the upcoming segment.

While Kit Connor plays the role of Nick Nelson, Joe Locke essays the character of Charlie Spring. Heartstopper follows the story of Nick and Charlie as they navigate through school and same-sex love. Although they become friends at first, with time the boys realise that they have feelings for one another. Hayley Atwell will slip into the shoes of Nick’s aunt Diane, reports Variety. She will be imparting tough love lessons to her nephew regarding his admiration for Charlie during a summer holiday to Menorca.

Eddie Marsan will essay the role of Charlie’s therapist — a wise and honest individual, whose reference can be found in the novel. Meanwhile, Jonathan Bailey is ready to make a cameo appearance in the role of Jack Maddox — an Instagram-popular classicist, who happens to be Charlie’s celebrity crush.

As per Heartstopper 3’s official synopsis, Charlie will finally confess his feelings for Nick, while the latter also shares something important to him. After the wrap-up of their summer holiday, Nick and Charlie soak in the reality of their school reopening, paving the way for a new set of challenges and joys. “As they learn more about each other and their relationships, plan social events and parties, and start thinking about university choices, everyone must learn to lean on those they love when life doesn’t go to plan.”

Directed by Andy Newbery, Heartstopper 3 will comprise eight episodes. The series is produced collaboratively by Euros Lyn, Patrick Walter, Emile Sherman, Iain Canning, and Alice Oseman. Yasmin Finney, Kizzy Edgell, Corinna Brown, William Gao, Rhea Norwood, and Tobie Donovan also form the cast ensemble.
