London: 'Bigg Boss', for long has been touted as the mother of all controversial reality shows. Contestants in the past have tried all the tricks to pull up a drama to be in the news. Given the format of the show, it was expected from the contestants to be blessed with an intrinsic ability to shock the audience, but, stretching it so far wasn’t expected.
Loyal 'Bigg Boss' fans including the host Salman Khan in the initial weeks of the season were complaining of the bland flavour which was largely because of the inactive contestant. So, to make it ‘interesting’, the contestants have gone berserk and have been making desperate attempts to create situations that emerge as the talking point.
Wild card contestants such as former 'Big Brother Australia' candidate Priya Mallik, fashion designer Kanwaljit Singh and model Rishabh Sinha etc. are trying disgusting tricks to grab attention on the show. These wild card entries are truly wild and have managed touch a new low.
Racism slur, pee splattering, contestants spitting on each other to allegations of sexual advances-we have seen it all. In order to outdo each other and have their share of 15-minutes of fame, these contestants crossing the line:
Racism: The issue of racism was raised in Celebrity Big Brother when Jade Goody made uncharitable remarks on Shilpa Shetty, which led to a massive uproar. Jade Goody was eliminated from the show while sympathy wave helped Shetty to win the Big Brother title. The brouhaha over racism attack catapulted Shilpa to international fame.
In the current season, NRI contestant Priya Mallik from Australia too complained that fashion designer Kanwaljit Singh made racial remarks. She demanded Kanwajit to be removed from the show, when he questioned her citizenship.
Irksome mannerism: Again it is Priya Malik who shocked the audience with her mannerism. It seems that she has taken lessons during her outing in Big Brother. In a task for immunity, in which she was expected to stay inside the car. Priya peed in a bottle inside the car, as Rochelle and Suyyash turned their faces away in embarrassment. When she had a scuffle with Kishwar, Priya did not hesitate to throw it on her. Priya wasn’t embarrassed of her actions, but, Salman was and so he refused to take it up.
Crying wolf?: No prizes for guessing that it was again Priya Mallik who complained about Prince and Rishabh for getting physical with her. She demanded that the two actors should be punished and removed from the show, but, failed to prove her point. Even other contestants doubted her allegations.
Women across the world have been fighting against sexual crimes, but, a show as popular as Bigg Boss has used the issue as a gimmick. We wonder if Priya was indeed a victim, why didn’t Bigg Boss take action against the boys involved. And if Priya unnecessarily blamed the boys then wasn’t it the responsibility of the channel to penalize her for crying wolf?
