Salman Khan needs no introduction. He has given back to back super hits at the box-office. Salman Khan, fondly known as Bhaijaan, celebrates his 58th birthday today, December 27. In the last 35 years of his career, Salman has cemented his name as one of the biggest celebrities in the world. He is one of those rare entertainers who were able to retain their stardom, despite facing major setbacks in his career.
According to reports, between the years 1991 and 1994, Salman featured in numerous commercial failures, and it was not a small number. Salman reportedly gave 10 unsuccessful films during those years, which were Love, Suryavanshi, Jaagruti, Nishchaiy, Ek Ladka Ek Ladki, Dil Tera Aashiq, Chandra Mukhi, Chaand Kaa Tukdaa, Andaz Apna Apna and Sangdil Sanam. This was not the end for the actor, as he went on to make some of the most successful Indian films ever thereafter.
Salman Khan released Dabangg in 2010, which became his first ever film to enter the 100-crore club. After that, he went on to give blockbusters like Ready, Bodyguard and Ek Tha Tiger.
Later, he appeared in films like Dabangg 2, Jai Ho, Kick, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, and Sultan. Jai Ho proved to be a semi-hit at the box-office, still collecting around Rs 116 crore. His blockbusters like Kick, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan blew away the box-office upon release. The films collected Rs 402 crore, Rs 900 crore and Rs 623 crore respectively.
This year, Salman Khan starred in two films, which are Kiski Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan and Tiger 3. While Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan performed underwhelmingly at the box-office, Tiger 3 proved to be a superhit, retaining the franchise’s blockbuster status. According to reports, the former collected Rs 182 crore, and the latter made a collection of Rs 466.33 crore.
