Gulshan Devaiah Reacts as Ulajh 'Struggles' at the Box Office: 'This Is a Tough Business'

Ulajh Box Office Report: Janhvi Kapoor and Gulshan Devaiah starrer Ulajh has not started off on a great note at the box office. The film, in two days, has earned only Rs 3.57 Cr net box office collection. While the makers are hoping the film would draw more audiences on Sunday, several reports have said that the film ‘struggles’ at the box office in its opening weekend. Gulshan has reacted to one such report.

Taking to X, Gulshan reposted a report featuring the details about the film’s box office and said, “Struggle is the salt that makes success taste good. The ones who don’t embrace the struggle will never achieve anything worthwhile. This is a tough business. Period.”

A social user poined out that Ulajh should have been released on OTT instead of the theatres. “Sir it’s question of removing the big screen obsession and going where the consumers are going – OTT is the future. This would have found love appreciation and big numbers on OTT. But wrongly distributed by going to cinemas,” the user said.

Gulshan replied, “Feature films are meant to be seen on the big screen. Hit flop toh chalta rahta hai. As pragmatic as I am about a lot of things , I’m not willing to let go of my idealism when it comes to cinema. I also don’t expect people to understand this. It’s a very personal thing for me.”

Ulajh has received mixed reviews. News18 Showsha has given the film a three-star rating and wrote, “Despite the shortcomings in the writing, director Sudhanshu Saria manages to get the cast right. With Ulajh, Janhvi has proved that she not only has a knack for interesting concepts (Mili and Good Luck Jerry are also good examples of this) but has been working on her craft as well. She does a great job in the film, especially in the action sequences.”

“The highlight of the film is undoubtedly Gulshan Devaiah. The actor delivers a memorable performance. He goes from looking hot to truly getting under your skin in two hours, and I am here for it. Another standout performance in the film was by Roshan Mathew,” the review mentioned.
