Actor Ryan Reynolds is in a total mood to surprise his fans these days. With his much-awaited MCU film promising to be a game-changer in the Marvel universe, he also added another bit of a surprise from his personal life at its premiere on Monday night. Reynolds and his wife, actor Blake Lively have often discussed anecdotes of their life with their four children, whom they try to keep away from the public eye. However, on the special occasion of the premiere of Deadpool & Wolverine in NYC, Reynolds finally revealed the name of his fourth child— Olin. Fans of the couple had already been waiting a long time for this revelation since the Deadpool star had hinted at it briefly on the Today programme in May.
During the event on Monday night, Reynolds, 47, appeared on stage alongside his co-stars and director Shawn Levy. He expressed his gratitude to his wife Lively and gave an emotional statement at the David H. Koch Theatre.
From the podium, he said, “I want to start by saying thank you to my wife Blake, who is here,” as quoted by E News.
“I want to thank my kids James, Inez, Betty, and Olin, who are here: I hope that, if I’m lucky, this moment will be the most traumatic thing—that is, the contents of this movie—that happens in your wondrous life.”
“I love that my entire family is here,” he continued.
On February 12, 2023, the 36-year-old actress from It Ends With Us and Marvel star welcomed their fourth child. Their youngest child’s gender has not been disclosed. During his interview on Today in May, Reynolds hinted at the toddler’s name.
“Taylor Swift keeps dropping it into lyrics!” Savannah Guthrie, co-host, joked, most likely referring to Taylor Swift’s song 2020 Betty, which features the names of his oldest three children.
When asked whether Swift revealed the baby’s name on her most recent album, The Tortured Poets Department, Reynolds was quoted by PEOPLE saying, “We always wait for Taylor to tell us what the child’s name is, and I’ll say this: We’re still waiting.” Reynolds and Lively are keeping certain information about their children hidden.
Reynolds said on the Today programme in 2022 that he and Lively, who was expecting Olin at the time, had no idea what they were having, saying that they “never find out ’til [they’re born].”
Despite not yet disclosing the gender of their child, Ryan said that he has a lot of experience with either gender. As the youngest of four guys, he has said in the past how much he enjoys being a girl dad.
He remarked, “I know girls,” on Today in 2022. “So I’m kind of hoping for that.”
The pair initially caught everyone off guard in September 2022 when Lively revealed her pregnancy to the public at the 10th Annual Forbes Power Women’s Summit. But fans noticed right away in February 2023 that Lively was no more showing off a baby bump in photos that she shared on Instagram. However, since then, they have so far kept the baby’s name, birthday and gender a secret.
