Amitabh Bachchan revealed he is currently filming a new song for one of his upcoming projects. And we wonder if it has something to do with Kalki 2898 AD. For the unversed, Amitabh will be seen in Kalki 2898 AD, set to release later this month. He will play the role of Ashwatthama in the Prabhas and Deepika Padukone-headlined film.
Taking to his blog, Amitabh teased, “Another busy day starts .. recording song for film , recording some other private stuff , and the intent of sharing some of it soon with our most dedicated.”
Amitabh’s look at Ashwatthama from the film was released in April. A teaser featuring his first look was released as part of IPL 2024. The 21-second teaser opened with Big B sporting clothes in warm earthy tones, seated in a cave, engaged in prayer to a Shiva linga. Accompanied by a serene backdrop of calming music, a child’s voice is faintly heard inquiring, “Can you not die? Are you divine? Who are you?”
With escalating tension, Amitabh revealed, “Since ancient times, I have awaited the arrival of the Avatar. I am Guru Drona’s son. Ashwatthama.” Sharing his thoughts on X (formerly Twitter) at the time, Amitabh said, “(Kalki) been an experience for me like no other. The mind to think such a product, the execution, the exposure to modern technology and above all the company of colleagues with stratospheric Super star presence.”
The film, set in a dystopian world, features Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Amitabh Bachchan as forces uniting to end the world’s darkness. Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD is a multilingual project which is produced by C Aswani Dutt under the banner of Vyjayanthi Movies. Billed as the biggest Indian film of the year, the magnum opus earned massive global acclaim after its impressive debut at San Diego Comic-Con last year.
The film is set to release on June 27. The trailer is set to drop on June 10.
