Amitabh Bachchan was all smiles when a Kaun Banega Crorepati 16 contestant romanced with him recently. On Friday, the makers of the show dropped a promo in which Big B was seen entering the stage with the contestant Dipti Singh. The two were seen holding hands as they ran towards the ‘hot seat’.
“Saalo ka sapna tha ke jab mein KBC mein (selection) hoga, aap mera haath pakad ke leke aainge,” the contestant said, leaving the Bollywood superstar laughing out loud. She then gave a rose to Sr Bachchan and added, “Sir yeh phool mei layi thi apne sapno ke raja ke liye joh roz mere sapno mei aate hai. Sir ek aap mujhe dijiye, aur mei aapko ek dungi. ( I have got these flowers for the king of my dreams, who comes in my dreams daily. Sir, please give me a rose.)”
Amitabh Bachchan also accepted the rose and got into the character of Amit Malhotra from his 1981 movie Silsila and recited a dialogue. Watch it here:
In one of the previous episodes too, a woman from the audience shouted and expressed her liking for Amitabh. “We have come to see you,” she said. To this, the actor responded by saying, “Let it be, you are saying this just because you are sitting in front of me.” Big B then added, “Sab log toh aapko dekhne aaye hai. Hum toh aapko dekhne aaye hai (All of us have come to see you. I have come to see you).”
Amitabh Bachchan has been the host of KBC since its inception in 2000, except for the third season, which was hosted by superstar Shah Rukh Khan. Season 16 of the show premiered earlier this month on Sony TV. During the first episode of the season, Big B got emotional and shared a moving message with all those who have watched and supported him through his journey in KBC.
“Today marks the start of a new season. But I’m a little short of words today. And that’s because no word has the capacity to convey the gratitude for your love,” he said in Hindi and then added, “I can’t come up with the words to thank you for your prayers which gave a new life to Kaun Banega Crorepati, which illuminated this stage again, and which reunited a family and allowed me to be present among you. I salute this country’s people for the resurrection, rebuilding, and rebirth of KBC.”
