The upcoming Malayalam film Pongala, directed and written by AB Binil, explores the intense feud between two factions set against the backdrop of Vypin Harbour. Drawing inspiration from historical events that occurred in the coastal areas of Vypin and Munambam over two millennia, the film is a production of Anil Pillai, Donna Thomas, Alex Paul and Geo Sheebas, under Global Pictures Entertainment and Thea Creations.
The movie is characterised by a blend of action and humour, featuring a cast that includes Baburaj, Bibin George, Appani Sarath, Surya Krishna, Shammi Thilakan, Indrans, Yami Sona, Durga Krishna, Martin Murugan, and Praveena. The filming is scheduled to commence on August 17 at the Vypin and Munambam locations.
Sreenath Bhasi’s last appearance was in the blockbuster hit Manjummel Boys, directed and written by Chidambaram. The cast includes names like Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, Ganapathi S Poduval, Lal Jr, Deepak Parambol and Abhiram, among many others. Produced by Parava Films, it became the highest-grossing film in Malayalam cinema after its release in February.
Besides, he acted in LLB (Life Line of Bachelors), directed by AM Siddique and featuring actors like Anoop Menon, Vishak Nair, and Ashwat Lal in lead roles. He also gave his vocals to the song Jaada, from the Malayalam superhit Aavesham. The film stars Fahadh Faasil as the lead along with Mithun Jai Shankar, Hipzster, Roshan Shanavas and Sajin Gopu. It is directed by Jithu Madhavan and, produced by Anwar Rasheed and Nazriya Nazim, under the banners of Anwar Rasheed Entertainments and Fahadh Faasil and Friends.
On the other hand, director AB Binil is an Indian film director, screenwriter and actor working in the Malayalam film industry and an alumni of NYFA. He started as an actor acting in the film Theneechayum Peerankipadayum (2018) and worked as an assistant director on Joseph (2018). Vamanan (2022) is his debut as a director and writer.
