The 33rd Buil Film Awards took place on October 3 at the Signiel Busan Grand Ballroom in Haeundae-gu. The event, which usually takes place during the Busan International Film Festival, was attended by many prominent figures from the South Korean entertainment industry. Hosted by the Busan-based daily Busan Ilbo, the latest edition of the award ceremony included Korean films released from August 11, 2023, to August 10, 2024. The dark comedy film Cobweb led the nominations list with nine nods.
Ji Chang Wook and Lim Ji Yeon led the crime thriller Revolver, and Hwang Jung Min starrer 12.12: The Day dominated the 33rd edition of the awards ceremony, with each receiving three awards for different categories. Oh Seung Uk directed Revolver took home the Best Film, Best Supporting Actress and Best Cinematography awards. Whereas 12.12: The Day was honoured with the awards for Best Director, Best Actor and Male Star of the Year. Following the two was Kim Jee Woon-directed film Cobweb, which received Best New Actress and Best Music awards at the recent Buil Awards.
Meanwhile, South Korean superstar Song Joong Ki was awarded the Best Supporting Actor for his role in the neo-noir thriller film Hopeless. On the other hand, 12.12: The Day’s Lee Jun Hyuk took the Male Star of the Year award home, and Shin Hae Sun bagged the Female Star of the Year award for her role in the mystery thriller Following, directed by Kim Se Hwi.

The 2024 Buil Awards proved to be a night to remember, with Revolver and 12.12: The Day taking away most of the awards.
