CHENNAI: A 24-year-old male model was conned by fake employers, who called him to a lodge for a ‘personal interview’ at Chromepet on Sunday, and decamped with his camera, expensive watch and a gold chain. Nishant, a resident of Chembakkam, received the interview call through e-mail after he recently posted details of his modelling aspirations over the Internet. A visual communication graduate from a private college in the city, he was looking for a suitable job.Meanwhile, a man calling himself as Sathish sent an online message, asking him to attend an interview at 11 am at a lodge in Chromepet on Sunday. When he went there, a man, speaking in fluent English and posing as the employer, told him about assignments and foreign trips and then handed over a face cleansing cream. The man wanted Nishant to wash his face using the cream so that he could take good photographs.He also told him to leave the gold chain behind because the cream could harm the costly metal.Nishant went to the bathroom leaving his camera, gold chain and watch. When he returned, he found all the valuables and the two men missing. The police said that the man who posed as the employer had given a fake address.
