YADAGIRIGUTTA: Amidst the chanting of holy mantras, Ankurarpana and other special rituals marked the beginning of the 11-day Brahmotsavam of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy at the Yadagirigutta hill shrine in the district on Friday.Hundreds of temple priests undertook mass chanting of Vedic mantras under the supervision of chief priest N Lakshminarsimhacharyulu. Rituals like Swasthi Vachakam and Mrustamgrahanam were also performed on the occasion.According to temple officials, over five thousand pilgrims participated on the first day and that more cottages have been booked by devotees coming to witness the festival.On Saturday, Dhwajarohanam, Bheri pooja, Devatha Havanam and Homam will be performed. The Brahmotsavams will continue till March 5 and Thiru Kalyanotsavam, the divine marriage of Narsimha Swamy and his consort Sri Laskhmi will be held on March 2.In view of the Brahmotsavams, all Mokku Kalyanams of the devotees stood cancelled. A slew of cultural events will be organised as part of the Brahmotsavam from February 26 onwards.Executive officer Premkumar and temple trust board chairman B Narsimha Murthy supervised arrangements for the fete.
