MALKANGIRI: Three weeks after her husband laid down arms, a woman Maoist leader, involved in many crimes in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, surrendered here on Friday.Nirmala alias Nande Sodi (30), Deputy Commander of Poplur and Kalimela Naxal Dalam, surrendered before the DIG Police (South-Western Range), Sunabeda, Soumendra Priyadarshi.The Maoist leader, who belonged to Kurup village in the district, was drafted as a cadre about 10 years ago, SP Aniruddha Singh said.Nirmala said the Maoists had deviated from their basic ideology. Besides, there was strong ill-feeling, particularly among the cadres from outside Odisha. She would be rehabilitated as per the package provided by State Government for surrendered Maoists, Priyadarshi said.Her husband Prabin, who was Commander of Poplur Dalam, had surrendered before police here on April 4.
