Visakhapatnam is one of the beautiful coastal towns in Andhra Pradesh and has many tourist attractions that the people are unaware of. According to the Local 18 Telangana, one of those places is the Gokul Park depicting the idols of the Lord Krishna’s hands carrying a flute. Gokul Park is located on the coast of Sagar Nagar. The moment visitors enter the park, they see the idols of the Lord’s hands, which delights all of them. Another additional attraction of this place is its cool and breezy climate due to the presence of the sea. Children and adults come to Gokul Park for their customary walks and relaxation in the cold evenings and early mornings. Not only Visakhapatnam, this park is a major source of entertainment from other places. Tourists said that there is a pleasant vibe at this park on the shores of Sagar Nagar. They visit this park for a couple of days and enjoy themselves.
Not only the idol at the park’s entrance, there are many other statues of the Lord Krishna and Radha ji as well in the park. In the visual captured by Local 18 Telangana, there is an artificial tree under which lies the beautiful idol of God. The park is bustling with the movements of the children who enjoy riding on their toy cars. The park authorities have ensured good care for the adults and placed chairs for their comfort.
At one point in time, Gokul Park had lost all its glory and its beach had become a dump yard. According to a report in the Times of India, Gokul Park’s compound wall collapsed during the cyclone Hudhud in 2014. It was not repaired for a very long time. It was then modernised with a large number of facilities for the people. Mayor G Hari Venkata Kumari inaugurated this park along with Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation Commissioner P Raja Babu and MLC Vamsi Krishna Srinivas Yadav. According to the mayor, the overhauling of the park had happened at Rs 30.5 lakh.
The development works included the building of a shade for Radha Krishna idols with banyan trees, cement benches for visitors etc.
