HYDERABAD: A day after they were disqualified from the membership of the state Assembly, rebel Congress MLAs owing allegiance to YSR Congress said the results of Kadapa Lok Sabha and Pulivendula Assembly byelections held in last May would repeat in the ensuing bypolls as well. Some of these MLAs, who were present in Hyderabad, met TSR Congress chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at his residence Saturday and discussed their future strategy.Welcoming the Speaker’s decision, former MLA Srinivasulu said: “We are now removed from the shackles of slavery”. All the MLAs said that they were out of Congress as the present government diluted the schemes launched by YS Rajasekhara Reddy. “All of us will return to the Assembly with huge victory margins,” Chennakesava Reddy said.“We decided to sacrifice our posts for the cause of farmers and stood by our commitment,” Srikanth Reddy maintained.P Ramakrishna Reddy added that they would continue the ideals of Rajasekhara Reddy and help SCs, STs and minorities. They said they would now go to people of their respective constituencies and explain the circumstances that led to their disqualification.Former minister Konda Surekha - the lone MLA to be disqualified from Telangana - said time has come for the people to “teach a lesson” to Congress that was “seeking to suppress the family of late YS Rajasekhara Reddy, whose efforts helped the party retain power”. She said that they had already chalked out a plan on how to face the elections. “We are not afraid of facing elections. The Speaker’s decision will help us,” Surekha added. As Jagan was away from city, the formal meeting for preparing for bypolls will be held soon, party sources said.
