TIRUPATI: Veteran Congress leader and MP, V Hanumantha Rao who was arrested for violating prohibitory orders at Tirupati, trying to stage a silent protest, continued his defiance even in the police station.Hanumanth Rao had decided to stage a silent protest at Tirupati, when YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had failed to tender an apology for his “irresponsible act on the sacred hills of Tirumala”. It may be remembered here that Jagan had entered the Sri Vari temple without signing any declaration form. Rao, who arrived at Tirupati on Wednesday evening, said that he had appealed to Jagan to tender an apology and sign a declaration form, but Jagan did not relent, hence he (Hanumantha Rao) had decided to stage the silent protest and pray to Lord Venkateswara to forgive everyone for such a grave mistake. After having darshan of Lord Venkateswara, he came to Tirupati and tried to stage his silent protest at Krishnapuram Tana.Police, who were alert, said that there had been no permission granted for the protest in view of prohibitory orders, they asked the Congress leader not to stage the protest. When Rao did not listen to the police, he was taken into custody and the protest camp was dismantled. The Congress leader was shifted to MR Palle police station, where he declined the offer of bail and continued his silent protest in the police station itself. He continued his protest till 5 p.m.To counter V Hanumantha Rao’s protest, YSR Congress mahila morcha activists led by Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy arrived at Krishnapuram Tana and shouted slogans against Hanumantha Rao.
