Expectations are obviously high for Venkat Prabhu’s 'Biriyani', which will be his next offering after 'Mankatha'. The film’s muhurrat was held on Sunday, but shoot will begin only next month, confirmed the filmmaker.
Shoot will commence only in August after he finds all the ingredients for the 'Biriyani', that is, the remaining cast. While actor-couple Prasanna and Sneha are reportedly playing important roles in the film, Venkat Prabhu says, “As of now, only Karthi and Richa have been confirmed for their roles. I can’t reveal other names before the contracts are sealed.”
The filmmaker will wait for the Tamil month of Aadi to get over as it is considered inauspicious to begin projects. Karthi, meanwhile, will complete his other project Alex Pandian by then.
Venkat Prabhu says making 'Biriyani' will be like a school reunion. “Karthi, Premgi, Yuvan and I went to the same school. Karthi was my junior. So it’s good that we have come together to make a film. Karthi also said the same when we met,” recalls Venkat. “Suriya studied in the same school and was my senior. But he doesn’t look like one,” he adds.
The 'Mankatha' director was present at the launch of WE fx Special Effects Studio and said digital would be the future of cinema.
“I love shooting using film and 'Biriyani' will follow suit. But I will definitely change to the digital medium soon. Kamal Haasan, who is considered a pioneer in this regard, has opted for digital for 'Viswaroopam'. It’s a sign for us to note,” he said.
