Promising a new transformation in the lives of women, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on Friday announced launch of a scheme under which bank accounts in the name of women of 1.5 crore families will be opened and aid and benefits directly transferred to their accounts.

Addressing the state level Independence Day function at Maharana Bhupal stadium here, Raje said that the "Bhamashah scheme" will empower women and bring a positive change in their lives. Women today need to be empowered and for this aim, Bhamashah scheme is getting a new start in Rajasthan today, Raje announced.

She said that the government has made a provision of Rs 600 crore this year, adding that bank accounts in the name of women of 1.5 crore families will be opened and monetary benefits of schemes will be transferred. Under the scheme, she informed, the women will be issued a smart card.

She also said that the government would soon introduce investment promotion policy to attract large investments in the state in the coming years and a policy to encourage solar energy production with an aim to generate 25,000 MW solar power in five years.

The government is making efforts to provide round the clock domestic electricity in the state. We have added 900 MW power generation capacity in the last 7 months and units having 850 MW capacity would also start in this financial year, she said. The chief minister said Rajasthan was now pioneering in skill development by taking initiatives in this sector with an aim to make large number of youths employable. As per our promise, our government will make 15 lakh youths employable and for this we have started work.

The government has signed MoUs with 40 companies for providing skill development training to 1.7 lakh youths this year, she said. She said in the function that promotion of tourism including rural tourism, modernisation of ration shops, social, economic and infrastructure development was in the priorities of the government.

Raje also said that Sajjangarh biological park in Udaipur would be open for public by the end of this year. Before the address, she hoisted the National Flag and inspected a parade.

Flower petals were showered by a helicopter on the venue during the Flag hoisting. Raje later felicitated police and other government officials with awards for their services.
