US to blame if Pak fails in war on terror: Khar
The Pakistani Foreign Minister said Pakistan wants cordial ties with other countries without compromising its national interests.

Islamabad: The US would be held responsible if Pakistan failed in the war against terror, Pakistani Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar said on Thursday.

Khar told the Parliamentary Committee on National Security that relations with the US were "on hold" and would proceed further if parliament allowed this, Geo TV reported.

Bilateral relations were affected after a NATO air strike on two Pakistani army check-posts killed 24 soldiers in November. In retaliation, Pakistan closed NATO supply lines through its territory and ordered the US to vacate a key air base in the country.

The foreign minister said the war against terrorism cannot be won alone.

On the US stopping $700 million in aid, Khar said Pakistan could contact other states for aid.

Future relations with the US would be "clear, not confusing", she said.

She said Pakistan wants cordial ties with other countries without compromising its national interests.

"We will make policies keeping in view core objectives, national interests and wishes of the people," Associated Press of Pakistan quoted Khar as saying.
