Mumbai: US-based Walt Disney's Buena Vista International Television Asia Pacific (BVITAP) on Monday announced that their group's 24-hour news channel ABC News Now will soon be launched on Dish TV, a leading digital terrestrial carrier in India.
The channel would be launched on Dish TV's carriage later this year, subject to down linking approval by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in India.
ABC News Now is a 24/7 international news channel that provides live breaking news coverage, complete shows, exclusives and news specials.
It also offers viewers exclusive interviews from ABC news programming such as 20/20, Primetime and World News with Charles Gibson as well as insightful, original programmes with the latest on health, money and Hollywood, the release added.
''We are delighted to sign this agreement with Dish TV for the ABC News Now channel, and look forward to working closely with them to bring ABC's first class news service to the Indian audience'', said Steve Macallister, BVITV-AP's senior vice president and managing director.
''India is a key strategic market for our company so this deal marks a particularly significant achievement'', he said. ''This is a major step forward for ABC News Now,'' said David Westin, president of ABC News.

The company's association with ABC News Now is in line with its commitment to provide the best of infotainment, available in India or abroad to the subscribers, business head of Dish TV, Jawahar Goel said.
