Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Friday held the previous BSP government responsible for the poor power scenario in Uttar Pradesh and said efforts were being made to set up new power plants in the state.
"We are purchasing power worth Rs 500 crore and aim to establish new power generation plants. As demand of power has increased and no new power plant was established, the people are facing the problem", Yadav said.
Yadav blamed previous BSP regime for the power crisis adding that poor quality transformers were purchased and in place of copper, aluminium wire were used, which aggravated the problem.
Meanwhile, Yadav announced that people of "Dhangarh" community would soon be issued certificate of Scheduled Caste. "The state government will ensure that soon people of Dhargarh community will get SC certificates", Yadav said while addressing a "Dhangarh" community conference at SP headquarter here.
He said the state government had already sent a proposal to Centre to include 17 backward caste in the SC category.
