New Delhi: A day after terror struck Varanasi, killing one and injuring many, Home Ministry sources stated that the Uttar Pradesh (UP) Police has not been cooperative and the investigative agency had to wait for suspect to come out to be apprehended.
According to sources, Indian Mujahideen's (IM) threat was evident as Shahzad, who was arrested in February had revealed that Dashashvemedh Ghat and German Bakery were potential targets. Sources said that UP DGP was informed about this in March and perhaps IM's intent was to strike on December 6, which may have been delayed to December 7 due to security presence.
Sources revealed that 20 IM recruits are active around world, of which six are in India and fourteen abroad. Fresh alerts have been sent to step up vigil at religious places, sources added.
