Election Commission has warned that Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav's men in the bureaucracy can't rest easy yet.

New Delhi: Even as the UP’s bureaucratic top brass struggles to recover from the massive shakeup conducted just ahead of Assembly polls, Election Commission has warned that Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav's men in the bureaucracy can't rest easy yet.

There's a lot more in store as the country's largest state goes to the polls.

Admitting that the micro-management that started with Bihar is being taken forward, CEC N Gopalaswami has announced deployment of an unprecedented 99 per cent central security forces during the UP polls.

He said that UP is considered a unique case. ''It’s a question of conducting free and fair elections. There are some special problems in UP. So we have highlighted that. There's a High Court judgement that says there's misuse of red lights, tinted glasses, people not authorised being given security. There are so many issues, plus at the field level there are areas where there could be intimidation,” Gopalaswami said.
