MANDYA: The work on fourth phase of Cauvery drinking water scheme executed by Bangalore Water Supply and Sewage Board (BWSSB) is all set to be completed by March 2012.Urban Development Minister S Suresh Kumar said that work on `3,400 crore drinking water scheme which was hit due to scarcity of sand, has been expedited to meet the deadline.He said Mandya and Ramanagaram DCs have been told to ensure that they get sufficient sand for the scheme and other government projects.After reviewing the works of this drinking water scheme on Tuesday, Kumar informed media persons that the completion of the project will help pump 500 MLD water that is flown through gravity from SBR Balancing Reservoir in Gaganachukki in Malavalli taluk to provide uninterrupted water supply to Bangalore and its surrounding areas.He said that the authorities, experts and engineers have completed works worth `2,500 crore. Kumar said he was visiting the place for the ninth time to review the progress, expedite the work to meet the deadline and complete the mega water supply scheme on time.He said that Bangaloreans will get uninterrupted Cauvery water by the last week of March 2012.
