Just days after the UK Border Agency pulled up the London Metropolitan University (LMU) in the UK for “systemic failings” and revoked its licence to sponsor foreign students, the local liaison office here wore a deserted look.
On Friday, there was barely anyone at its liaison office on Haddows Road, Nungambakkam.
It was surprising, since the university was reportedly one of the largest admitters of Indian students, especially from the South.
The security guard said the office was “busy” until afternoon.
On visiting the LMU office late on Friday, it was revealed that the office was closed as the in-charge was not available, and another person was on leave.
The reception staff, however, gave the contact number of the person, whom students could get in touch for details regarding admission.
While it was unclear whether admissions were still possible, given the revoked licence for student visa abuse, the office seemed to be functioning normally
