CHENNAI: The British High Commission and Olympic Gold Quest (OGQ), are running a series of events across India to celebrate sport and the London 2012 Olympics. One of the events in India is a hockey skills clinic for children in Chennai. Jeremy Browne MP, UK Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, who will be in Chennai for the day, is to join the children at the skills clinic. Viren Rasquinha, former Captain of India’s national field hockey team, Olympian and Arjuna Award winner, will conduct the clinic himself. The clinic is to take place at the Astroturf Hockey Ground and  is scheduled to be held from 11.30am to 1.15pm. The day will feature speeches by Viren Rasquinha,  former chief coach Vasudevan Bhaskaran and Minister Browne. Olympic Gold Quest (OGQ) is a programme of the Foundation of Sports and Games, India, a non-profit organisation tht was founded by Indian sporting legends Geet Sethi and Prakash Padukone. OGQ also has on its Board of Directors, several Indian sporting stars such as Leander Paes and Vishwanathan Anand. This group of individuals, along with many others, are committed to bridging the gap between the best athletes in India and the best athletes in the world. The aim is to enable Indian athletes win Olympic Gold medals. The clinic, once complete, will be followed by a prize distribution ceremony by Minister Browne and Bhaskaran. As part of the occasion, children will present roses to the Olympians present.
