NAGERCOIL: The compound wall of a school run by People’s Movement Against Nuclear Energy (PMANE) coordinator S P Udayakumar near here was demolished by unidentified persons.The incident reportedly happened on Saturday night. Udayakumar’s wife Meera, who is the principal of SACCER (South Asian Community Centre For Educational Research) Matriculation School, filed a complaint with Rajakkamangalam police.“We don’t have a night watchman at our school. Around midnight, our school nanny whose house is located close by, heard some unusual noises near the school campus. In the morning, she went to the spot and found the compound walls damaged,” Meera told Express. The school, set up around 10 years ago at East Pulluvilai near Erumpukadu, has classes from LKG to Class VIII. Around 210 students are studying in the school. “It is an intimidating exercise,” said Udayakumar, who is the correspondent of the school. He said he was suspecting involvement of cadres of some pro-Hindu outfits or Congress. He claimed that even Central intelligence sleuths could be behind the attack.Meanwhile, the District Superintendent of Police Praveesh Kumar said night patrolling will be increased in the area to prevent any untoward incident. A case has been registered.
