HYDERABAD: Unidentified miscreants decamped with jewellery worth over Rs 2.5 lakh from a house in on Monday after threatening two women inmates of the house. The incident occurred around 3.30 pm when two unidentified men entered their house without the knowledge of the house owner, T Prabhavathi (50) while her daughterinlaw Divya was at the grocery store.
When Prabhavathi found two men in the bedroom, she began crying after which Divyas rushed home. The duo, on hearing the house owners cries, broke open the almirah and stole the jewellery. "Fearing they might get assaulted, the women ran into the bathroom and locked themselves inside. The robbers escaped with some jewellery available in the almairah,' Vanasthalipuram police said.

According to police, the assailants were aged around 45 years and spoke in Telugu. Police, however, are also investigating into the genuineness of the complaint. The incident happened in daylight and there were no eyewitnesses to it, police said. A case has been registered.
