KOCHI: Little Ansina was two weeks short of her 10th birthday when tragedy struck her. On the evening of April 12, Ansina’s father Ansar, an autodriver, was buying supplies from a shop at Chalakkapara, near Kanjiramattom, while his family waited for him inside his autorickshaw. Then a private bus, which had collided with another one, rammed into the auto and the shop. Ansar died on the spot while Ansina’s right hand was cut off. Her mother Seleena and brother Askar suffered injuries.  Ansina was immediately taken to a private hospital. Though two surgeries were done to fix her hand they failed and on Saturday her right-arm was amputated. A vein in her right leg was cut and her left-arm was slit.  Seleena is unemployed and the family does not even own a house. The doctors are yet to say how long Ansina will have to stay in the hospital. “The family will stay with me hereafter,” said Nazar T U, Seleena’s brother.   “My only concern is about my little niece, who turns 10 this Saturday. My only concern is about my little niece, who turns 10 this Saturday. The major worry is how she will cope with the mental and physical distress,” he said.
